Good and Bad

Days, seriously, they kill me with everything that you get good comes twice as much bad.

1. Good-Days, for once, has written a Sweeps story, full of suspense, angst, and decent special effects. Bad-It was the only story during Sweeps.

2. Good-For once they are writing John halfway interesting. John Black as a complete asshole I can watch. Bad-I can’t watch him for twentysomething days straight.

3. Good-Writing Shelle off, something they should have done a long time ago. Bad-When are they going to leave?

4. Good-Kayla’s (MBE) struggle from the after affects of the plane crash like losing her father, worrying about her pregnency and thinking Steve was possibly dead. Bad-That the show has taken Kayla’s M.D. and given it to Marlena.

5. Good-Victor coming in and worrying about his sons on the plane. Bonus points for showing him putting his hand on Chelsea’s shoulder. Bad-Nick hasn’t been around to support Chelsea except for a four minute scene yesterday? I almost spent an entire post about this, but realized I needed to talk more about the show other than my worry that Blake will be on his way out with the rest of Hogan’s creations.

6. Good-Shirley Jones stunt casting as the alive Colleen Brady. Bad-Her scenes being completely wasted on the likes of Deidre Hall and Belle instead of letting Colleen and Santos lookalikes Sami and EJ head to Ireland.

7. Good-Definite emphasis on character angst and how it affects relationships. Bad-Bad dialogue.

8.Good-Brady’s coming together to pray for their loved ones. Bad-Characters who share family members talking around each other like they aren’t all Brady’s. (Note: This is especially bad this Monday’s episode.)

  1. How heavy handed were all of the “I can’t wait until Old Shawn comes home?” anvils? At one point, it looked like Caroline and Roman were contemporaries as opposed to Mother and Son. I am concerned about Nick’s lack of screentime, too, but I am just glad that someone called Sami and got her out of the safehouse.

  2. Oh, you reminded me of another one:

The Shawn anvils were pretty heavy handed. Nobody has ever spoken that much about him before.

  3. no surprise that i’m with you on number 5, tripp.
what was the purpose of including nick in the wednesday scenes if he wasn’t gonna stick around for the thursday ones, too? now it looks like nick just dropped in, told chelsea he was there for her, then took off because he, what? had something more important to do? it’s so uneven and irksome. i wish they’d stop wasting blake.

  4. I almost wish Nick wasn’t included in Wednesday’s show. It felt all wrong to me like at the last minute they added Blake to the scenes. With the exception of knowing what time it is in Greenland, nothing he said stood out as being within Nick’s character.

I’m just trying to get myself ready for when they come out saying Blake is being written out of the show. I sent a letter off today to say I believe he is a vital part of the show who never gets used, but who knows if it will get picked up.

  5. I agree with you on all points, Tripp, particularly missing Nick and the waste of Shirley Jones.

I’m glad the new writer is introducing what looks like lots of new stories, but you’re right that they sure weren’t on display the last two weeks.

  6. Oh, Mary, you reminded me of more!

  7. gah – where have i been!?

i feel completely discouraged by the nick/chelsea situation on days right now. i havent felt like watching because of it, in weeks. then on the daytime confidential podcast this week they were talking about the rumor of chelsea possibly hooking up w/ another doctor connected to tony and anna? and i’m sorry but shelley hennig/steph needs to go, yesterday.

you were an 80’s and early 90’s GH fan right? if so, if you havent already definitely download the d.c. podcast # 203..its a tristan rogers interview!

  8. Nat, I think the doctor rumor is because of Chelsea’s early scenes with the new character or Daniel (whatever his last name). he’s way too old for her, so hopefully he is there for Kate. I haven’t heard of any other doctor coming to the show and RM did say in her blog she won’t have anything to do with Tanna’s storyline.

I might check out that podcast. I would tune back into GH to see Tristan, but I hear they hardly use him.
